GUEST ARTIST
Garden is a place for people to enjoy the view and have fun. As we all know, China has many famous gardens such as Suzhou Garden , Zhan Garden, Liu Garden and Zhuozheng Garden.
I know these famous gardens attracted many tourists from all over the world every year but I do not know why. There is much knowledge about building a garden, so our school arranged a meeting for us to know more about gardens with a landscape architect Mr. Zhao Bing from Nanjing Forestry University this Monday afternoon (1/12/2008) and after the meeting I understand what makes a good garden.
During the meeting, first Mr. Zhao Bing told us the structure of the word "GARDEN" in Chinese and English and its meaning then he showed us many pictures of ancient gardens from China and European countries. He introduced there are 4 types of Chinese gardens: royal garden, private garden, view garden and temple garden. Next Mr. Zhao Bing focused on gardens in Suzhou, there are many attractive gardens in Suzhou because its environment, climate and culture is suitable. At last he told us some of the ways about how to build a good garden, I think it is the most interesting and useful part of the meeting and gave me the deepest impression.
From this meeting, I acquired more knowledge about constrictions and aesthetic appreciation, I know build a garden is not as easy as I thought before. I know more about our country’s culture and art and realize how smart the Chinese landscape architects are. I begin to appreciate the gardens, when I am looking at the pictures of gardens, I will notice the ornament and composition and think about why they are arranged in this way and what’s the effect of this arrangement. This is improve because I never pay any attention to gardens before this meeting.
In conclusion, I think this meeting is very necessary and meaningful for me in the rest of my life.
At last, I want to express my most sincerely gratitude to Mr. Zhao Bing for giving us this knowledgeable lesson!
